Champion trees
The goal of the
Prince George’s County Big Tree Program is to
identify, measure, and catalog the largest trees of each species within the
county lines.Nominees though this program will be submitted and compared to
specimens of the
Maryland Big Tree Program. The trees are scored on
Total Points = circumference (in inches) + height (in feet) + 25% of the average
crown spread. This leads to fair comparison amongst trees.
Specimens currently listed as County Champion Trees: Currently, there are 19
